Assistant Sailing Coach

Old Dominion University, a NCAA Division I member of Conference USA, is accepting applications for the Assistant Sailing Coach (full-time, 12 month) position. This position's primary responsibilities will be the enhancement of the men's and women's sailing program and the instructing and counseling of student-athletes in the sailing program, while following the ideals of the ODU Sailing Mission Statement.

Required Education: Master's degree or bachelor's degree with training and experience equivalent to an advanced degree. US Sailing Level 2 Coach certification or foreign equivalent.

Required Qualifications: Coaching or sailing experience at the US collegiate level or World Sailing World Cup Level. Demonstrated knowledge of advanced sailing skills and fundamentals. Demonstrated advanced racing skills. Demonstrated organizational skills and effective communication skills (written and oral). Knowledge of ICSA and NCAA rules. Demonstrated public relations skills, team administration and leadership skills, budget management skills, fiberglass boat repair skills, and demonstrated coaching skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with monitoring high academic performance and retention of student-athletes. US Sailing Level 3 Coach certification. US Sailing or foreign equivalent Judge, Umpire and Race Management training.
